In this study, an imine compound 2-((phenylimino)methyl)phenol was synthesized by the reaction of salicylaldehyde and aniline for in situ monitoring of reduction with sodium borohydride. The reduction of C = N double bond to C-N in solution was continuously monitored by infrared spectroscopy using the background defining method in liquid cell at ambient temperature. The structures of the purified 2-((phenylimino)methyl)phenol compound and the resulting 2-((phenylamino)methyl)phenol compound were elucidated by Infrared Spectroscopy, H(1)and C(13)Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy.en_US
