dc.description.abstract | The catalytic function of the enzyme carbonic anhydrase (CA)
plays a fundamental role in carbon dioxide (CO2), proton (H+),
and bicarbonate (HCO3
) homeostasis. A specific role of CA in
respiration and ventilatory control is suggested by the presence
of various CA isoforms in various tissues [1]. Carbonic anhydrase
(CA) activity increased with apnea-hypopnea index and related
nocturnal hypoxemia measures in patients with obstructive sleep
apnea (OSA) [2]. | en_US |
