The aim of this article is to compare various formulas to determine the readability levels of texts in 4th and 5th grade Social Science and Science-Technology text books. For this purpose, "Flesch, FOG, Gunning, Sonmez and Atesman" readability formulas were used. The study sample comprised of randomly selected 4 texts which were used in 4th and 5th grade Social Science and Science-Technology textbooks in the 2009-2010 academic year at Ankara. As a result, when the readability levels of texts in the textbooks are examined, it has been revealed that the results of formulas' are not consistent with each other.en_US
